Health City Cayman Islands announced the launch of a specialized clinic for atrial fibrillation (AF), to expand access to expert care for patients with this common heart rhythm disorder.
The Atrial Fibrillation (AF) Clinic is led by Dr. Ravi Kishore, Chief Interventional Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Health City Cayman Islands. Adults aged 40 and over, or individuals with risk factors such as high blood pressure, sleep apnea, or pre-existing heart conditions, are especially encouraged to seek professional evaluation if they experience symptoms like fatigue, palpitations, or shortness of breath.
With the implementation of a dedicated triage pathway for urgent cases and a strong emphasis on patient education, the AF Clinic positions Health City Cayman Islands as a leading provider of cardiology in the Caribbean region. The clinic uses evidence-based tools, such as the CHA2DS2-VASc and HAS-BLED scores, to personalize stroke prevention strategies.
Given that AF can increase the risk of stroke by up to five times, Dr. Kishore emphasized that early diagnosis and proper treatment are vital for improving patients' quality of life. The clinic's services include advanced diagnostic tests such as electrocardiograms (ECG), echocardiograms, and Holter monitoring. The center offers a coordinated model for early diagnosis and stroke risk assessment.
